FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Adulting Quest™?
The Adulting Quest™ is a collection of guided conversation games that help parents, teens, and trusted adults talk about real-life topics before adulthood gets stressful.
Each quest is designed to make important conversations feel more structured, less awkward, and more productive.
What is included in the Starter Bundle?
The Adulting Quest™ Starter Bundle includes:
Career Quest™ — a guided career exploration game that helps teens think through career paths, lifestyle goals, income, education, and future planning.
Alliance Quest™ — a guided parent-and-teen conversation tool that helps families talk through expectations, support, responsibilities, money, and what changes after graduation, turning 18, or moving into adulthood.
Is this a game or a workbook?
Both.
Each quest is designed like a guided workbook with game-style activities, prompts, points, conversation rounds, and decision-making tools.
It is not a traditional board game. It is a printable or printed conversation tool families complete together.
Who is this for?
The Adulting Quest™ is best for parents, teens, and trusted adults who want help talking about life after high school, career direction, money, responsibilities, and independence.
Career Quest™ is recommended for ages 13+.
Alliance Quest™ is best for teens and young adults around 16–20ish, especially families preparing for graduation, turning 18, or the transition into adulthood.
Do parents and teens play together?
Yes, but some parts may be completed separately first.
The quests are designed to help both the parent/trusted adult and teen think before they respond, then come back together for a more honest and productive conversation.
How long does it take?
Career Quest™ usually takes about 30–70 minutes, depending on how much discussion your family has.
Alliance Quest™ usually takes about 60 minutes, but some families may choose to split it into more than one session.
There is no rush. The goal is clarity, not speed.
What if my teen does not know what they want to do yet?
That is exactly why Career Quest™ exists.
Career Quest™ is not designed for teens who already have everything figured out. It helps teens explore their interests, preferences, lifestyle goals, and possible career paths in a more approachable way.
“I don’t know” is allowed. The quest helps turn “I don’t know” into better questions and next steps.
What if my teen gets defensive during serious conversations?
The Adulting Quest™ is designed to lower the pressure by making the conversation more structured and game-like.
That said, this is not a magic fix for every family dynamic. If a conversation becomes too emotional, pause and come back later. If your family is dealing with high conflict, emotional safety concerns, crisis, abuse, or serious mental health concerns, use the quest with the support of a therapist, counselor, school counselor, or trusted professional.
Is Alliance Quest™ only for teens turning 18?
No.
Alliance Quest™ is useful for families preparing for any major adulthood transition, including:
graduation, turning 18, starting college, working full-time, taking a gap year, living at home after high school, moving out, or renegotiating household expectations.
Does Alliance Quest™ create a legal contract?
No.
Alliance Quest™ is a conversation tool and family planning guide. It is not a legal contract, legal advice, financial advice, therapy, or crisis support.
Any written agreement completed during the quest should be treated as a shared family understanding, not a legally binding document.
Is this only for parents?
No.
A “Guide” can be a parent, stepparent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, mentor, guardian, counselor, or another trusted adult.
The most important thing is that the teen has a safe, respectful adult willing to listen and help them think through real-life decisions.
Can homeschool families use this?
Yes. The Adulting Quest™ works well for homeschool families because it supports career exploration, life skills, family discussion, planning, and real-world readiness.
Can teachers, counselors, or coaches use this?
Yes, with care.
Career Quest™ may work well in educational, counseling, homeschool, coaching, or small-group settings.
Alliance Quest™ is more personal and family-specific, so it is usually best used at home or with a trusted professional facilitating a family conversation.
Professionals should use their own judgment and follow any rules, policies, or ethical guidelines that apply to their role.

Is this therapy, legal advice, or financial advice?
No.
The Adulting Quest™ is an educational and family conversation tool. It is not therapy, legal advice, financial advice, crisis intervention, or a replacement for professional guidance.
If your family needs professional support, please contact a qualified therapist, counselor, attorney, financial professional, school counselor, or appropriate support service.
What if we do not finish in one sitting?
That is completely fine.
Some families complete a quest in one sitting. Others split it into multiple conversations. The goal is not to finish fast. The goal is to create a clearer, calmer conversation.
What makes this different from a normal workbook?
The Adulting Quest™ is designed to feel more like a game than a lecture.
Instead of giving teens a stack of worksheets, each quest uses prompts, choices, challenges, points, and guided discussion to help families stay engaged and talk through real-life decisions together.
